What is your Focus?

by Frank L. Williams

It has been said that ‘if you chase two rabbits, both will escape.”

Like many of you, my inner entrepreneur naturally wants to test out any new idea or seemingly good business opportunity that comes along. This could apply to taking on a potential project that is out of our wheelhouse or to a business venture that has no relation to PioneerStrategies.

Over time, I’ve learned the danger of spreading myself too thin. As an aside, I seem to keep learning this lesson over and over. When I give in to the temptation to spread myself too thin, I limit my own effectiveness.

As a business owner, I am at my best when I focus my energy and efforts in my areas of strength. From an individual perspective, this means spending time in areas that match my talents while delegating or outsourcing other tasks. From the company’s perspective, this means focusing our attention on promoting our bread-and-butter services.

All that glitters is not gold. A seemingly good opportunity might just be a distraction that sabotages your effectiveness.  Keep your eyes on your highest priority targets.
